How Car Engines Work

In this post ill show a tell you how car engines work .
Have you ever opened the hood of your car and wondered what was going on in there? A car engine can look like a big confusing jumble of metal, tubes and wires to the uninitiated.
A gasoline engine operates on the principle of combustion. A fuel/air mixture is pulled into a cylinder, the cylinder is then closed off and the piston is thrust upward to create compression. A spark is introduced to ignite the mixture to create combustion to thrust the piston downward in the engine block

There are a number of pistons inside an engine depending on the design, 4 to 12 cylinders usually. The pistons are connected to a crankshaft through a connecting rod. Pistons fire consecutively to rotate the crankshaft inside the engine block. The oil pump pushes oil through the oil filter and then supplies oil to vital engine parts including the crank and camshaft, cylinder walls and piston rings, valve train, cam lifters and the timing gears or chain. Motor oil is used to lubricate and cool internal engine parts. Oil is pumped up through the engine, then returns to the bottom of the engine and is gathered in the oil pan.

The cylinder head is connected to the top of the engine block and allows air/fuel mixture and exhaust into and out of the cylinder block. The cylinder head has the duty of holding the air/fuel mixture charge inside the cylinder as it combusts, forcing the piston downward. The cylinder head is connected to the engine block using head bolts, using a head gasket to seal both parts.

The rotor and housing of a rotary engine from a Mazda RX-7: These parts replace the pistons, cylinders, valves, connecting rods and camshafts found in piston engines.
Like a piston engine, the rotary engine uses the pressure created when a combination of air and fuel is burned. In a piston engine, that pressure is contained in the cylinders and forces pistons to move back and forth. The connecting rods and crankshaft convert the reciprocating motion of the pistons into rotational motion that can be used to power a car.
In a rotary engine, the pressure of combustion is contained in a chamber formed by part of the housing and sealed in by one face of the triangular rotor, which is what the engine uses instead of pistons.

In tough economic times, manufacturers have to diversify, as well as work on their strengths. According to one German magazine, BMW has done just that, and is willing to supply its engines to competitive marques.

With BMW cleaning up International Engine of the Year awards in several categories, and for several years, it makes sense to profit from its experience in this field.

BMW’s head of development, Klaus Draeger, has been reported as saying that BMW is moving forward with plans to sell its engines to Mercedes, as well as other brands.

2.5 litre VM Motori engine

Built specifically to meet the latest Euro IV emissions legislation, the VM Motori R 425 DOHC is the cleanest diesel engine ever to beat at the very heart of a LTI taxi. Cleaner and greener with no compromise in economy or power.
Designed by Europe's leading diesel engine specialist specifically for the TX4, the high torque delivery at low speed means you can pull away from a standing start quickly and comfortably, a feature fundamental to taxi operation.

Supercharged LS9 Small Block V8 for the 2009 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1

Incorporating the engineering experience already found in the Corvette Z06's LS7 engine and the new-for-2008 6.2L LS3 of the Corvette, GM Powertain is targeting 100 horsepower per litre for the LS9, or 620 horsepower (462 kW), and approximately 595 lb-ft of torque (807 Nm); final SAE-certified power levels will be available in early March 2008.

Will Dodge keep a 4-cylinder engine in the option list for the 2008 Dodge Caravan? If it does, this new 2.4-liter "world engine" (also found in the Dodge Caliber) will likely be the one.

Super Mario 110 pounds ,arts

If you have a few lego bricks lying around you could try building yourself a Mario or just put in a bid for this monster sized Lego Mario that is being auctioned on eBay currently at $3,289. The creator Dirk VH is donating the proceeds to charity. The Netherlands’ Game Mania commissioned Dirk to create this giant Mario.

The Huge Mario Lego sculpture weights 110 pounds and stands 5-foot, 9-inches tall the pieces are glued together for extra strength. Fantastic bit of engineering and well done to Dirk VH for creating such an amazing sculpture entirely out of Lego bricks and all for charity.
