Fashion trends transparency

Spring-Summer Fashion Trends

We continue to explore the fashion trends that will be relevant in the coming spring-summer season. This time, our attention was drawn to fashion trend style transparency. This is a mixed fashion trend, we can safely say that this trend is not for everybody, as not everyone is ready to let in their wardrobe see through transparent clothing. However, you should still take a closer look at what fashion designers offer in the upcoming fashion season.

As noted by Tim Blanks, a woman in the Giambattista Valli style can easily borrow some clothes from her boyfriend wardrobe. This, however, does not prevent her to appear in a pencil skirt rather classic style, which resonates with the transparency of the material. By the way, transparency, demonstrate the most feminine model collection Giambattista Valli - in addition to skirts, the trend of the upcoming season is implemented in dresses and tops in organza and lace.

Christopher Kane also repeatedly appealed to this fashion trend of the season in his spring-summer collection, having dressed his models in transparent blouses, skirts and dresses, which, according to Tim Blanks refer to "Psycho" and Hitchcock's "The Shining" Kubrick. The reason for transparent associations is to use rubber finish, designed in the form of a kind of lace. Such Christopher Kane dresses reminded shower caps and shower curtains of the aforementioned films, this, however, does not sound like a criticism, but rather as a compliment in favor of non-standard methods and materials.

Preen has combined in his collection  several trends: transparent blouses and dresses combined with the wide sleeves, reminiscent of a kimono, a variety of prints and block solutions.

Like many other designers, Claire Waite Keller working for Chloé, showed the fashion trend to transparency in feminine attire. Femininity of these images only highlighted by pastel shades, flying silhouettes and airly ruches. But in the Erdem fashion collection  transparency goes hand in hand with the silhouettes of the 1950s, which inspired the Erdem Moralioglu designer brand. Sense of modernity to the collection brings a mix of pastel shades with bright neon colors.

However, not all the fashion brands have opted to show this fashion trend in dresses and skirts. Some, like Valentino, Emilio Pucci and Erdem, brought to the catwalk models in transparent raincoats.

Many fashion brands interpreted transparency in its own way: Dolce & Gabbana dress showed wicker frame, Jason Wu turned to more traditional images of the evening gown, and Missoni offered practical option transparent sleeveless dress that can be worn over many different outfits.

Fashion trends: back to 90's

Top Fashion trends

Part punk, part working class, grunge has been a recurring theme in fashion trends since the early '90s. It first crawled out from the underground in the late '80s in response to financial hardship, a backlash to capitalism and the emergence of regional rock music.

The Seatde-born fashion trends style was popularized by front men like Nirvana's Kurt Cobain
(his tortured by fame look included moth eaten sweaters, beat-up Chuck Taylor sneakers and shredded denim) and Pearl Jams Eddie Vedder (fond of oversized plaid shirts paired with baggy cut-offs and combat boots). Courtney Love, lead singer of Hole and Gobain's wife, brought her version of burnout beauty into the spotlight with baby-doll dresses, smudged eyeliner and slashes of red lipstick. Anti-fashion went mainstream and Gen Xers everywhere started Goodwill hunting.

Designers began to take notice of this fashion trends. Marc Jacobs based his Spring 1993 collection for Perry Ellis on this surprisingly influential slacker style but gave it a decadent twist. Sleeveless flannel shirts were produced in luxurious silk, thermal tops were woven in cashmere and Chuck Taylors debuted in Duchesse silk. Then there was the skilful layering: Full-length granny-floral
dresses were worn over striped tops, flowy skirts were left open to reveal hot pants underneath and crop tops were worn over T-shirts and under button -ups.

The media were smitten and Jacobs won the CFDA Womenswear Designer of the Year Award but the collection didn't sell well. The king and queen of grunge—Cobain and Love— were sent pieces from the collection, which they later burned. In a 2010 interview with Womcm ftfear Daily \ Love shed some light on this fiery situation: "We were punkers—we didn't like that kind of thing."

Three-figure price tags and thrift store-inspired threads weren't a match made in retail heaven back then, but now luxury has been redefined. This season, designers including Phillip Lim, Dries Van Noten and Henry Holland are hoping to cash in on their tidier interpretations of' 90s grunge fashion trends. Today's look is about juxtaposing luxe with lowbrow, masculine with feminine and construction with dcconstruction.

Its artfully messy with an underlying polish. Van Noten put a soft spin on it, showing plaids in taffeta, organza, mousse line and lame. His other spring standouts included oversized sheer button-down shirts (perfect for layering) and white oblong sunnies similar to the ones Cobain wore. Rochas continued this glam grunge fashion trends theme with vintage-inspired slip dresses (hello, Courtney), while Henry Holland churned out lace and sheer-edged dresses that referenced the '90s in hues much deeper than his usual bright, bold mix.

5.1 Phillip Lain showed bare midriffs, distressed denim, tie-front skirts that gave the illusion of a flannel shirt around the waist, and tough sandals that channelled Doc Martens, while Acne designer Jonny. Johans son paired sleeveless noveltytees with parachute skirts held together with utility belts.
Grunge, in all its haute hybrids, is showing no sign of social alienation this time around.

The spring fashion trends campaigns are high on hobo-meets hipster chic: Jacobs, the original guru of grunge, set his latest Marc by Marc Jacobs ads in a gritty, graffiti covered bathroom and small alleyway, proving that loud colour, chaos and clashing prints are the new must-haves. Somewhere, Kurt Cobain is flipping us the bird.D

Black in fashion trends

FASHION IN BLACK

But this season it’s far from basic

It became as clear as black and white (and a smidge of navy) to me last fall during New York’s Spring 2013 fashion trends collections. I was attending a breakfast at Lincoln Center, and while nibbling on a croissant, I looked out the window, mesmerized by the parade of fashion editors. They were prancing past in such a hodgepodge of colors and prints and textures, the effect was almost dizzying.

Then I focused back on my breakfast mates, who stood out dressed in black and navy. They looked sleek and confident. And strangely cutting-edge. Strangely because when was the last time that wearing black was considered fashion forward? The answer is now.

Some of the most stellar collections this season—Céline, Lanvin, Alexander Wang, Calvin Klein, Narciso Rodriguez—were almost singularly limited to a palette of black and white. Fashion is a cyclical beast by nature, so it makes sense. “There’s been such an abundance of color and print for a few seasons, black and white is acting like a palate cleanser,” says Sarah Rutson, fashion director of Lane Crawford. In the past few years, prints—helped by new techniques for digitally manipulating and distorting images—have come to the forefront. As a result, designs from Mary Katrantzou to Balenciaga to Proenza Schouler  fashion trends  have created memorable fashion moments.

Yet for those of us who are more Alexander Calder in our mind-set than, say, Claude Monet, recent seasons have felt somewhat confining. I love prints in  fashion trends, but I am keener on the architectural aspects of a piece of clothing, which stand out best when delineated in black and white. While I’m not likely to be seen wearing the midriff-baring cutout looks from Alexander Wang and Balenciaga, I am signing up for the sleeveless tuxedo jackets from Céline and Lanvin. “There is something counterintuitive and slightly shocking about wearing black in warmer months,” notes Linda Fargo, a senior vice president at Bergdorf Goodman.

I like the idea of dressing against the grain. But I’m also not turning color-blind come spring. I have my eye on a searing-orange sheath from Narciso Rodriguez, because the freshest way to delve into color is in a single intense, traffic-stopping dose. Fargo agrees: “It feels like a new nod to mod when it’s done all the way, like at Michael Kors or Gucci  fashion trends.” As standout as these  fashion trends colors are, this season you may make more of a statement by going back to black.
