Hair Style Look Book: Top Knot

Sometimes known as a samurai bun or a very high bun, top knots are all the rage this summer. It's basically piling your hair up and looking effortless while keeping cool. We love how simple this hair style is, and how it automatically gives you some extra height! The slicked back look is perfect for a formal event, while the messy updo is great for a hot summer day.

Hairstyle Look Book: The Bob

The bob is a classic hairstyle that will never go out of style. Popularized in the 1920s, it was a symbol of female independence and vitality. In more recent memory, it's been brought to the forefront of fashion by Victoria Beckham, and perfect by Katie Holmes (and Suri Cruise!). It can look both youthful and mature, and can be sleek as well as shaggy. While you can definitely work a bob with different hair textures, it's optimal for those with medium to fine straight hair. You can definitely add some waves to a bob, but there's nothing quite as stunning as a shiny sleek bob. One day we will be bold enough to rock this look, until then we will satisfy ourselves with this gallery of babes with bobs.

Hair Style Look Book: Loose Side Braid

Wow, is it really September already?  September makes us think back to school and the unofficial start of fall.  We're sad to see summer go by so quickly, but are certainly looking forward to fall leaves, colors, cool weather perfect for layering and, of course, the hairstyles.  Luckily, there is one carefree summertime style that we think we will see stretching over into the fall and that is the loose, surfer meets Heidi,  side braid. Check out these rather easily executed styles and let us know what you think:

Hair Style Look Book: The Pixie

Cool, stylish, and very mod, the pixie cut is back in full swing. Celebs all over the place are chopping off their locks and opting for a more refreshing style. Now, we realize that the pixie cut is not for everyone (which Saira learned the hard way in 11th grade), so we suggest "faking" the cut by strategically pinning up your locks or, if you're Photoshop savvy, editing your locks for a mini preview before making the full commitment. The look is easy, low maintenance, and perfect for hot summer days. Once you decide to go for the cut, you'll need inspiration, so take a look!

Trend Alert: Feather Locks

Fashion and fishing - two words that you probably never thought you would hear used in the same sentence.  That is, until wearing feathers in your hair became the hottest new trend.  We didn't really realize this was a huge deal until we read some articles last week and actually saw it for ourselves the other night when the 3 out of 5 girls showed up at the bar with "Feather Locks".  Companies are popping up online selling feather hair extensions and fly fishing lures have been flying off the shelves and into hair salons around the country at completely unreasonable prices.  Steven Tyler may have pioneered it, but other celebs have picked up on it and it's really taken off.  What do you think of fashion's latest craze?

While they do look kind of cool, it's important to note the larger impacts of this trend the the farming and fishing industries. Is it worth it?  Read the article here and decide for yourself!

Hairstyle Look Book: Glam Ponytail

Tying your hair up in a ponytail is usually the quickest way to get yourself ready for the day... no fuss, no muss.  But, they aren't just for soccer moms, cheerleaders, or heading to the gym. Surprisingly enough, it's also a great look with your formal wear. Opt for something high and bouncy, loose and messy, or low and sleek. Either way, it will be a fun and fresh look that will sure to get a lot of attention.

Hairstyle Look Book: The Big Bang

Cutting bangs can dramatically change your look, for better or worse. While this look isn't for every face shape, it can be very flattering and stylish. You can make them blunt and dramatic or soft and gentle, depending on your style. The length of your bangs really depends on your personal preference, but those with longer faces can pull off shorter bangs, without looking like a school girl. If this is a new look for you, then we definitely suggest going for some long, side swept bangs, as you can easily pin them back if you change your mind. Here are some fringe styles for you to try:

We just couldn't resist that Chace Crawford and his sexy bangs.

Fringe is your friend.

Hairstyle Look Book: Side Buns

Getting dressed up almost always involves getting your hair done. For some that means lavish curls, a sexy blowout, or an extravagant updo.  One of our favorite "red carpet" looks is the side bun. It brings all the elegance of an updo, but with a fresh and sweet take. Oftentimes, you spend so much time getting your hair put in an updo, but no one can admire it in the pictures since your head is blocking the view! This way, you can strike a pretty pose with your coiffe in the foreground. Check it out!

Those are some hot buns!

Hair Style Look Book: Beachy Waves

We've got to admit, we love the beach babe style - that fresh out of the water, tousled and care-free, I know I have sand everywhere and I don't care kind of look.  And, not just for the day at the shore, but for any occasion! Pairing formal dresses or flirty frocks with tossled beachy waves creates a style that is casual, but still glamorous and romantic.  It's summer time, so treat yourself to a swim and let nature take it's course, transforming your locks to resemble the rolling waves of the ocean.  Sure, maybe saltwater isn't the best for your hair, and might leave you feeling a little grimy, but there's no denying that it can give it some serious texture and volume. If you're not a fan of the sun and salty seas, don't fret; you can easily get this look indoors.  One way is to use a styling product that essentially acts just as the salt water and helps texturize your hair.  But, if you do not have naturally wavy hair, we suggest wrapping some sections of your hair around the outside of a large barrel curling iron to create this care-free, bohemian look.  Here's a look at some of our favorite examples of this sexy style:
